AI sprite sheet generator

Make a game-ready sprite sheet from an image or video

AnimGen is a sprite sheet maker for character animation. Generate motion from source art or import a supported video, select the useful frames, and export a sprite sheet PNG with JSON metadata or engine-ready files.

Sprite sheet workflow

Build the sheet from motion you have reviewed

Keep generation, clip editing, frame sampling, and packaging as visible steps so the exported grid reflects the part of the animation you actually want to use.

  1. 1

    Choose a source

Upload character art when you need to create motion, or import an existing MP4, WebM, or MOV clip.

  2. 2

    Generate or import motion

Create a video preview from the image, or open supported animation footage directly in the workspace.

  3. 3

    Trim and sample

Set the useful range, inspect it frame by frame, and choose how many frames should represent the motion.

  4. 4

    Export the package

Download a sprite sheet with JSON metadata, individual PNG frames, or an engine-ready asset pack.

Frame and layout controls

Decide what goes into the sprite sheet

A sprite sheet generator is most useful when clip selection and export choices remain separate. Review the motion first, then choose the frame count, dimensions, processing, and package formats.

  • Use in and out points to remove unwanted lead-in or recovery footage.
  • Step through the selected range and preview repeating motion as a loop.
  • Choose the output frame count and dimensions before starting the export job.
  • Apply optional color key or matting only when the source background is suitable.

Export options

Use the files that fit your game pipeline

You can select more than one format for the same export. Check the downloaded files and transparency edges before adding them to a production project.

Sprite sheet + JSON

A packed PNG grid accompanied by JSON metadata that describes the exported frame layout.

PNG sequence ZIP

Individual PNG frames in a ZIP archive when your tools or engine prefer separate images.

Engine packs

Sprite assets and import metadata packaged for Unity, Godot 4, Unreal Paper2D, or Cocos Creator.

Sprite sheet maker questions

Is this an AI sprite sheet generator?

AnimGen can generate a motion preview from character art, but it does not skip review. You select the useful clip and export settings before the final sprite sheet is created.

Can I make a sprite sheet from my own video?

Yes. The current web workflow accepts MP4, WebM, and MOV imports, subject to the browser being able to decode the media inside the file.

Does the sprite sheet include JSON metadata?

Yes. The sprite sheet export includes a PNG plus JSON metadata for the frame layout. Separate PNG frames and engine packages are also available.

Can the exported sprites have transparent backgrounds?

Optional color key or matting can process suitable footage during export. Results vary with the source, so inspect fine details, shadows, blur, and edges before production use.
