GIF to PNG sequence converter
Split an animated GIF into numbered PNG frames and download them in one ZIP. Transparency is kept, and every frame is the full image, not just the part that changed. Nothing is uploaded.

Split a GIF into PNG frames in four steps
- 1
Drop your GIF
Choose an animated GIF, or try the sample walk cycle.
- 2
Check the frames
Thumbnails show the frames in playback order, so you can see what will be saved.
- 3
Trim if needed
Set the first and last frame, keep every Nth frame, or scale pixel art up to 4×.
- 4
Download the ZIP
Get frame_0000.png, frame_0001.png, and so on, ready for an editor or a game engine.
Why the frames come out complete
- Many GIFs store only the pixels that change from one frame to the next. The converter rebuilds each frame the way a browser shows it, so every PNG is a complete image.
- Transparent areas stay transparent in the PNGs.
- Files are numbered in playback order with four digits, so they sort correctly in any folder or importer.
- The ZIP is created on your device; large GIFs may take a few seconds.
GIF to PNG questions
Is my file uploaded to a server?
No. The file is read and converted by JavaScript in your browser tab, and the download is created on your device. Nothing is uploaded, and you do not need an account.
Are the PNG frames all the same size?
Yes. Every PNG has the GIF's full width and height, even when the GIF stored only a small changed area for that frame.
Is the frame timing kept?
PNG files have no timing, so the ZIP holds images only. If you need the durations, use the GIF to sprite sheet converter, whose JSON keeps each frame's duration.
Can I get a sprite sheet instead of separate files?
Yes. The GIF to sprite sheet converter packs the same frames into one PNG with JSON frame data.
