Sprite sheet splitter: cut a sheet into PNG frames

Split a sprite sheet into separate PNG frames. The grid is detected from the transparent gaps, or you set it yourself. Keep every frame or click just the ones you need, and download them in one ZIP. Nothing is uploaded.

Split a sprite sheet in four steps

  1. 1

    Drop your sprite sheet

Use a PNG, WebP, GIF, or JPEG sheet, or try the sample walk cycle.

  2. 2

    Check the grid

Each frame gets a numbered outline. Fix columns, rows, margins, or spacing if a frame is cut off.

  3. 3

    Choose the frames

Every non-empty cell is selected; click cells or pick a row or column to keep only some. Scale pixel art up to 4× with hard edges.

  4. 4

    Download the ZIP

Get every frame as a numbered PNG, in reading order.

How the splitter cuts a sheet

  • Frames are cut from an even grid of columns and rows, read left to right and top to bottom.
  • Margins at the left and top, and spacing between frames, can be set separately for each direction.
  • Cells with no visible pixels are skipped, so a half-filled last row does not leave blank files.
  • Transparent pixels stay transparent in every PNG.

Sprite sheet splitter questions

Is my file uploaded to a server?

No. The file is read and converted by JavaScript in your browser tab, and the download is created on your device. Nothing is uploaded, and you do not need an account.

What if my frames have gaps or a border?

Open Margins and spacing and set the left and top offset and the space between frames. The outlines update as you type, so you can see when each frame fits.

In what order are the frames saved?

In the order they are selected: left to right, then top to bottom by default, or the order you clicked them. Files are named frame_0000.png, frame_0001.png, and so on, and empty cells are left out.

Can it split sheets with uneven frames?

Yes. Switch to Separate sprites to cut each sprite on its own, trimmed or aligned on one frame size. It goes by the visible pixels; it does not read atlas data files, so packed atlases keep no original frame names.
